Sunday 8/30 in the Nursery

Good morning. This Sunday in the 1 year old room and 2k was a great time. We did not have alot of children, but we made it a whole lot of fun.
In the 1 year old room we played with blocks and built towers and talked about colors. We talked about our hands and that God made them. We clapped and danced around. I told them that God loves them and so do we at Christ Church.
In the 2k room we prentended to drive to church. There were squares marked on the floor and kids got frisbees as their driving wheel. We drove to church and talked about who else came to church with them. We talked about how God made their hands to drive, color, clap, and pray with. I asked them who loved them and Suri Biset said "You do"! I told her "Yes, we all do here at Christ Church and so does God."
We are looking forward to another fun Sunday next week.

Sunday 8/23 in Nursery

This morning in the 1 year old Caterpillars we listened to the CD "I love to Sing" and the children laughed and danced. We clapped, marched, and raised our hands to the music. I told them that God loves them and is happy that they use their hands and feet to sing. This morning in the 2k Butterflies we acted like we were climbing steps to church. As the kids walked up the step stool, we sang "Jesus loves Me". We then made a picture with a church, a cross, and cutouts of Mom, Dad, brothers, and sisters to represent who came to church with them.

Sunday 8/23 in the Zone

Today we welcomed in some new 1st graders and reviewed how we do things in the Zone.

Then, because of the new school year we watched "The Gourds Must Be Crazy" from the Veggie Tales DVD God Made You Special https://bigidea.com/products/shows/shows_content.aspx?pid=132. In this story there is discussion people who are different from us, that might seem "weird" because we don't understand. There is an emphasis in this story on looking at people not as weird but as different, but perfect the way they are. God made each of us (fearfully and wonderfully made - Psalm 139) for a purpose...to love Him and to glorify Him.

All of us, especially kids beginning a new school year, have an opportunity to show love and compassion to other people, even if they are different from us. You never know when the new kid at school, that you first thought was weird, will save your spaceship by eating the popcorn asteroid (ask the kids who were in the Zone today).

Parents: Please let me know at any time if you have questions about what we are doing. You are always welcome to join us to check things out for yourself!

Miss Kelli and Miss Trudie will be discussing with the children that Little People Can Do Big Things, and talking about what we each can do to glorify God.

Sunday 8/16 in the Zone

As we welcomed the new 1st graders into the Zone, we celebrated the 6th graders who were leaving the Zone and joining the Youth.

Lessons:

The Great Commission
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

In Children's Ministries we want all children and their families to be disciples, professed followers of Christ. In the Great Commission we are blessed to have instructions from Jesus himself, he tells us to be disciples by learning what he has taught and to make others disciples by teaching them what we know about Jesus. So we are to be disciples, always learning, and we are to teach others at the same time. So this will continue to be the focus of Children's Ministries as we follow the vision for all of Christ Church: Real Community, Living Worship, Growing Christians, Bringing Good News.

Blessing of the Children

Father God, we come before you today to lift up the children and youth of Christ Church and their families, in advance of the beginning of the school year. Thank you for the lives of all the children in our church family and please pour your blessings upon them.

Empower the children and youth this school year, to continue to follow you, to be filled with the light of Jesus, and to let their lights shine so that others see the good things they do and praise your name, Father, in heaven.
Be with all the parents, Lord, and give them the fruits of the Holy Spirit, especially patience, gentleness, and self-control as they manage the busyness of life and juggle the many demands that the school year brings. Let them see clearly not only what you would have them do, but also what you would have them not do in order to draw themselves and their families closer to you.

I ask for your protection and safety for all children everywhere, especially those who don’t have all the opportunities that our children do.

I thank you for the entire family of Christ Church where we are all striving together for Real Community and Living Worship, as we seek to grow as Christians ourselves and Bring good news to others.

We love you Father, and I pray this in the name of your precious son, our savior, Jesus Christ.
